China Guiyang International Big Data Industry Seminar and London Industry Tour







On February 28th, with the full support of the Guiyang government, CENTI Group successfully hosted the China International Big Data Industry Seminar in London. The event attracted nearly 100 talents and investors from universities, leading financial companies and research institutions. The purpose of this Seminar is to establish a strong tie among British and EU enterprises, experts and the Chinese government.

The Seminar has been started with the welcome from Barclays Rise, which organized the event in their unique innovation hub venue.

During the Industry Tour, the CENTI team first led the Guiyang Municipal Government and its delegation to visit Level 39, which locates at the city of London Canary Wharf and could be regarded as Europe's largest financial technology incubator. The community leaders of Level 39 guided the delegation to visit the diverse functional spaces of the incubator and elaborated on them as well as amiably answered the delegation's questions on various aspects of Level 39’s operation.

Afterwards, the delegation held an in-depth discussion with SaltEdge, the leading financial data analysis company in the building, to understand the development of the company. After learning about its expectations and concerns about entering the Chinese market, the delegation introduced the status quo of Chinese financial development and welcomed it settles in Guiyang and the principle of SaltEdge also accepted the delegation's invitation to participate in the China International Big Data Expo.

Guiyang is the capital of Guizhou Province in southwest China, which plans to become the " China’s Data Valley" by 2020 so as to serve the real economy more comprehensively and optimize its regulations and services. According to an official document released by the local government last year, the total revenue of the big data industry is expected to reach 100 billion yuan (15.7 billion USD) by that time.

Guiyang City has also hosted the world's first market-oriented expo with big data as the theme in four consecutive years, which makes this city the trendsetter of the global big data industry and the most authoritative and internationalized industry-sharing platform.

Then it came to an introduction to the Guiyang’s Big data industry and innovative trends by Xiao Lu, the deputy director of the Guiyang Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology. The follow-up section was another introduction to the investment landscape of Guiyang was made by Jun Qin, the Director of Guiyang Investment Promotion Bureau.

We have invited big data and AI specialists’ speakers from the UK to make speeches: - UK Big data industry and innovative trends by Alejandro Saucedo who is the Chief Scientist of the Institute for Ethical AI & Machine Learning

- Six potential areas for Guiyang-UK handshake on big data by Abhijit Akerkar who is the Head of AI Business Integration, Lloyds Banking Group.

The speakers were followed by a session of Big data start-up companies pitches as follows:

Neudata: Alternative Data: China vs UK, and Logically: UK vs China`s solutions for Bias Detection.

They exhibiteda vivid presentation, which relatively showed the leading advantages of alternative data and big data analyses. With the ardent communication amongst guests afterwards, plenty of project groups have received the invitations from China International Big Data Expo.

The event has been ended with a session of Q&A and networking. During networking, a lot of invites to collaboration has been issued and discussed andthe connections have been made amongstinvestors, specialists, academics, innovators and officials.

The meeting was held at CENTI's dedicated office, which is located in the heart of London's technology industry area -- the Silicon Roundabout and is dedicated to accommodating for delegations and other international programs.

To summarise, the China International Big Data Expooverseas promotion was aiming to focus on the leading-edge innovation trends in the fields of big data in London, even in the whole Europe, to enhance the interaction between Guiyang and Europe, eventually to expand the international influence of China International Big Data Expo.
